REFURBISHED FACILITIES AT MACOYA GROUNDS OPENED

MONDAY, JANUARY 14 2019:  PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – A ribbon cutting ceremony and a football match kicked off the official opening of the newly refurbished facilities at the Constantine Grounds in Macoya.

The December 7 event was attended by Councillor for Trincity/Macoya, Josiah Austin, Digicel Foundation Senior Government Relations and Affairs Executive, Alicia Hospedales, Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation Works Supervisor, Quincy Legerton, Project Foreman, Bevon Belgrave and President of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation’s Recreation Committee, Marlon Ramsewack.

The upgraded toilet facility was achieved through an application to the Digicel Foundation Extraordinary Project Impacting Communities (EPIC) Programme last year by Councillor for the area, Josiah Austin, who facilitated the project.

The application was approved and a cheque received to the sum of TT$33,750 for the supply of materials. The Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) also invested TT$10,000 in the refurbishment works and supplied the requisite labour for the project. The facilities will now be managed by the TPRC’s Recreation Committee.

The friendly football match took place between the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) and Macoya FC. Macoya FC won the friendly with a 5-4 goal lead over the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation.
