Kingston, Jamaica – September 03, 2024 – Ding, a mobile recharging company for Digicel and Flow customers, has recently contributed $3 million JMD towards Digicel Foundation’s Hurricane Beryl relief efforts.

Ding’s substantial contribution has significantly bolstered the Foundation’s relief efforts. With this funding, the Digicel Foundation has been able to distribute essential care packages that include items such as toilet paper, water, non-perishable food, bleach, and tarpaulins. Additionally, the donation has enabled the Foundation to organise a back-to-school event in collaboration with JPS Foundation, Flow Foundation, and Food for the Poor, where students in and around Junction, St. Elizabeth, received much-needed school supplies.

Charmaine Daniels, CEO of the Digicel Foundation, expressed profound gratitude for Ding’s contribution. “We are incredibly thankful for Ding’s generous donation. Their support is instrumental in our continued efforts to assist communities affected by Hurricane Beryl. This contribution will help us maintain and expand our relief activities, ensuring that we can provide further assistance to those who are still struggling to recover.”

The Foundation has been actively involved in recovery efforts since the hurricane passed, working to address urgent needs and provide relief to over 1,000 residents in the hardest-hit areas.

Ding’s contribution to the Digicel Foundation is the result of funds raised through their Access for Good fund, which receives 1 cent from every top-up sent via their platform.

Shannon Bailey, Ding’s Caribbean Lead, remarked on the collaboration, “The Digicel Foundation has a stellar reputation of reaching marginalised and negatively impacted communities in Jamaica since its launch”, says Ding’s Caribbean Lead Shannon Bailey, based in Kingston.

Continuing, she said, “with our longstanding relationship with telecommunications provider, Digicel, it is an absolute pleasure to embark on this mission to reach those people still grappling with the effects of hurricane Beryl and provide some much-needed relief”.

The Digicel Foundation remains steadfast in its dedication to hurricane relief efforts, working tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable communities receive the aid they need to rebuild.
